Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma)

Bachelor of Pharmacy is an Undergraduate Academic Degree awarded for a course or program in the field of Pharmacy. B.Pharma is a 4 year program which is mandatory for any individual who needs to rehearse as a pharmacist. Pharmacy education and profession in India up to graduate level is regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). Those who aspire to start a Chemist Shop should acquire business skills along with good knowledge of products which are stocked and which are sold. B.Pharm programme covers the syllabus including biochemical science & health care. The Pharmacy Courses are approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) & Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

Eligibility

Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy requires a candidate to have cleared 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Maths (PCM) or Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology as subjects. One must also pass with at least 50% marks in Pre University Course with biology/mathematics as one of the subjects, or complete a D.Pharma (Diploma in Pharmacy). In some states it is also mandatory to give an additional pharmacy entrance examination in order to be eligible for the course.

Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma)

D.Pharma. or Diploma in Pharmacy is an undergraduate Diploma Course in the medical field of Pharmacy. Students can study this education course after successfully completing Standard Twelve in science stream with Physics, Chemistry and either Biology as subjects. The duration of course is 2 years. The person who has completed D.Pharm can be employed as pharmacist in shops selling medicine (Pharmacy). It has been made mandatory that at least one person employed in pharmacy must have qualified D.Pharm. After completion of D.Pharm, a student can go for degree (under graduate) course of B.Pharm.
